A Word on Each Sculpture Student
AB- I helped him get his sculpture to stand. He just needed a more
solid foundation.
JB - My first impression was she was a trouble maker. She
definitely tested my role as teacher right off the bat. But after just a few
days with her I can see that she is truely kind. I just have to work harder with
her to get through.
AC- very friendly, personalbe, social, positive.
IC- witty sharp, not afraid to speak with teachers. seems unsure of
himself
VC - has missed a lot of class. She is building an owl - I don't have a good
read yet, respectful but distant
MC - artistic and creative, down to earth, happy, still need to get to know her,
interesting but seems a bit sad/reserved too
DC- very happy, sarcastic, funny, bright
DD - has missed a lot of class. it is hard to tell what she is like, I
have only met the defensive shell
LD- smart but distant, she is always respectful but short.
RF- seems rebellious, however she is more engaged in the class than expected
AF- reserved, doesn't seem to like to talk with me. I try to give
him short bursts of encouragement and then give him his space.
opened up over time.
PG- friendly, reserved, wants to fit in, funny, needs positive
reinforcement
KJ- quite and kind. she created a seahorse, it was wrapped up into
itself with spikey fins for protection. I speculated that
this could mean she is introverted and has a protective shell.
JK- happy go lucky, very nice yet distant
ML- shy, he has been building a creature but the whole time he did
not know what is was. It was just a shape, it has been exciting to watch him
work. We have had great conversations about finding your way through your art
work. He sits next to K, so at the same time we are discussing how her
form points to characteristics about her, so too does his form describe him. His
approach is just a bit more abstracted, you could say he is a more abstract
thinker- more concerned with his instincts than with the facts. M is
always respectful and engaging in great conversation
IM- very bright and engaging, out going and willing to discuss her
ideas, she is very aware of herself
KM- controlled, poised almost aloof, misses class, I need to find out
more on her
PM- He is a smart alec but also quite sharp and respectful, I was surprised and
impressed when he listed off all the things he is involved with in school
GM- sociable, kind, needs some help staying on task
CN- confident, funny, type -A, he already has his futre all mapped out
KO- seems like a trouble student at first but it has become clear that
that is just a thin defensive barrier, it is easy to see that she really wants
and needs positive feedback from her teachers
HO- seems like a rebel, testing boundries, but he also really needs
attention. Short quick bursts of positive reinforcement is key,
I also try to relate to him about things outside of class to show that I am
interested in him as a person not just another student.
RP - outgoing and funny, seems focused and goal oriented though
not that interested in art.
SP- introverted but detirmined- very focused on his task at hand.
always kind and respectful
KR -seems kind and smart though I have not had many opportunities to
talk to her
NR- I also taught her at Blevins, she is a good student. It
almost seems as if she can do the work that is asked of her to a high degree
without much effort. My first impression is to say she doesn't try very
hard but you wouldn't know it by the work she is able to produce.
TR - respectful and outgoing, willing to question the teacher and keep you on your toes
HU - detirmined, bright, and a bit distant
CV- ambitious, solitary, kind
